We kicked the new year off, with the Charity Talent Show returning in 2019 at Altoria with all the freshers from UWLHC and UWMHC getting involved to show us their many talents. While the competition was tense, in the end the Men’s 4s came out on top with a hilarious dance routine! This night raised a phenomenal £126 for Alzheimer’s Research, one of our chosen charities of the year and showed that our freshers are certainly not only talented on the hockey pitch!

UWLHC also continued the February Family Challengewhich started for the first-time last year! We had 9 hockey families who di...

Term 2 has been the greatest 2nd half of a season that the 4th team has ever had in UWLHC history. After some great efforts in matches and some close scores, the girls worked so hard in training to develop their skills and match play and finally secured their first ever and well-deserved win!

The fours had their first match on the 20th of January, meaning that we had a lot of time to refresh and improve our match play in our two weekly training sessions in the lead up to the match. Whilst I was sadly unable to attend, my Vice Eloise captained the game. The game was against Nuneaton Ladies 4...

The 3s have had a really exciting season, improving both in our Saturday League and our BUCS. These last 10 weeks, in addition to our first season, have led to the success of our team both on and off the pitch.

Our greatest game this year was undoubtedly the 2-2 draw against Nottingham Trent. Though this doesn’t look like a big achievement, especially since we had much better results against other teams, Notts Trent were dominating our BUCS league and so a draw against them (on their own pitch!!) was a fantastic result. Overall, we came third in BUCS, a great result given the standard of p...

Having ended last term in 8th place in Saturday league and 6th place in BUCs, the 2s have improved on both of these, finishing in 6th and 5th place respectively.

In Saturday league, this half of the season has been really successful, with 6 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses. We also scored 22 goals! Our last game of the season was somehow also our biggest win with a margin of 5.0. Since we were only promoted into this league at the end of last season, we should definitely consider 6th place here a huge success. Reflecting again on the quality of our team, our goals this season have been spl...

After a challenging, but rewarding Term 1, with some tough matches and hard-fought wins, the 1st XI went into Term 2 with a lot to fight for.

In BUCs, we still had the chance to stay up in Midlands 1A because of our tie with Birmingham 3s and our win against Worcester 1s. Where we were plagued by injuries in Term 1, most of our team was now fit and back on our feet. We didn’t have many BUCs matches left, but every match was important. Although we didn’t win our BUCs matches in Term 2, we showed great improvement compared to Term 1, which could be seen in our results. Through our hard work,...

This year’s Varsity match pushed back at 11:30 on Sunday the 24th of Feb, the early start perhaps an attempt by Coventry to lessen the amount of supporters witnessing their 29th loss. The sun shined, teasing the possibility of an early summer, Warwick 1s warmed up to the boombox (despite the recent injury of our DJ Sec) and Varsity-bundle facepaint decorated supporters and players alike. Warwick’s supporters were out in force with just as much cardboard, outnumbering Coventry’s fans despite us playing on their shoddy home pitch.

The first half produced no real threat from Coventry. Warwick...

UWLHC began this year by choosing to represent the two amazing charities CRASAC and Alzheimer’s Research UK. CRASAC are our local charity who do amazing work for sexual abuse victims in the local community and Alzheimer’s Research UK is our national charity who have a mission to create the first life-changing dementia treatment by 2025!

For any extra information on these amazing charities please take a moment to check out their websites and find out a bit more about all the life-changing work they do!

Term 1 has seen the 4s get off to a hugely positive start. Trials and tasters at the start of term saw a huge amount of interest in joining the club. We continued to gain interest throughout the term, welcoming many later members. Our pride week taster in week 9 was also a huge success. We currently have 53 members in our facebook group, making us UWLHC’s biggest squad!

This season has been one of the most successful and promising starts for the 4th team. Our training sessions have become increasingly varied, as we have started to focus increasingly on match play and tactics. As the 4s cont...

The 3s have had a great first term with successes both on and off the pitch.

Though our highest win is the 4-0 achievement against Staffordshire, our most impressive game to date was definitely against Harper Adams in which we came back from a 1-0 loss to win the game 3-2. As a result of our promotion on Saturday, in which we somehow ended up moving 2 leagues, we are encountering a number of very strong teams and so are currently in 10th; this we hope to improve as the season continues.

In an exciting turn of events the 3s are through to the first round of the cup after we impressively beat...
