WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO...

The 3s have had a really exciting season, improving both in our Saturday League and our BUCS. These last 10 weeks, in addition to our first season, have led to the success of our team both on and off the pitch.

Our greatest game this year was undoubtedly the 2-2 draw against Nottingham Trent. Though this doesn’t look like a big achievement, especially since we had much better results against other teams, Notts Trent were dominating our BUCS league and so a draw against them (on their own pitch!!) was a fantastic result. Overall, we came third in BUCS, a great result given the standard of p...

The 3s have had a great first term with successes both on and off the pitch.

Though our highest win is the 4-0 achievement against Staffordshire, our most impressive game to date was definitely against Harper Adams in which we came back from a 1-0 loss to win the game 3-2. As a result of our promotion on Saturday, in which we somehow ended up moving 2 leagues, we are encountering a number of very strong teams and so are currently in 10th; this we hope to improve as the season continues.

In an exciting turn of events the 3s are through to the first round of the cup after we impressively beat...

What an incredible season the 3s have had!!!

First and foremost, thanks to our unfailing work every Saturday, we are getting promoted in the Warwickshire Hockey League…!

Not only did we work consistently throughout term 2 to maintain our top of the league position, we also improved on a number of our results.

When we played Olton and West Warwick during preseason we lost 1-0 yet within the space of just a few months we had stepped up our game so much we won 7-1 (including 6 goals from Meg!).

With no thanks to the Beast from the East, we still have a couple of WWHL matches to play during the Ea...

I have been extremely proud of what the 3s have achieved this term as a team, both on and off the pitch.

We were faced with a lot of changes from the very beginning: new coach, new pitch, and new division arrangement within the Warwickshire League. Yet this has not deterred us from being successful.

We started off by shoeing the poly and we didn’t think it could get any better.

How wrong we were.

Since then, we have risen to the top of the division in the Warwickshire league, with some spectacular results, including an 8-0 win against Sutton Coldfield and 5-0 against both Long Buckby and Ru...

This season has been fantastic for the 3’s, we began with a fairly tough start with only a few players having played together previously and a large squad that struggled to find their feet. Although the team comprised mostly of fresh, they have excelled throughout the year producing such great team spirit. In BUCS, at the start of the season we played teams that obviously should not have been in our league, dropping fatal points. However, we picked ourselves up after the 5th week (after Jus’ reverse flick) and worked hard to regain points, and finished 4th overall- a massive achievement!

University of Warwick Women’s Hockey Team 3s played Sutton Coldfield 6s on 14th Saturday January 2017, winning 2-1.

Within the first minute or so, Sarah Daniel scored an excellent goal within the first minute leading off of the start of the game. The rest of the first half was evenly matched with a strong defence against many attacking short corners from Sutton in the goal that was more like a pond. The second half saw both more rain and more attacks, with an excellent reverse flick attempt on goal from Ju Sandh...
