WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO...

December 13, 2018

The 3s have had a great first term with successes both on and off the pitch.

Though our highest win is the 4-0 achievement against Staffordshire, our most impressive game to date was definitely against Harper Adams in which we came back from a 1-0 loss to win the game 3-2. As a result of our promotion on Saturday, in which we somehow ended up moving 2 leagues, we are encountering a number of very strong teams and so are currently in 10th; this we hope to improve as the season continues.

In an exciting turn of events the 3s are through to the first round of the cup after we impressively beat...

The 2s have had a promising start overall this year, after securing promotion in our WWHL Saturday League last season.

First of all, let's talk Saturday league. After a somewhat one-sided season last year (did you say almost undefeated?), this one has started much more competitively, with a mixed set of results from very balanced fixtures. Now that our league has 12 teams rather than the 10 we had last year, we have more fixtures. This definitely led to a slow start for us since 2 of these happened before our fab freshers even arrived, causing no end of selection issues. It also means that...

The 1s have had a very busy term 1, being promoted into a new BUCs league and facing a lot of great teams on Saturday as well. Currently, we are in the fourth place in the Midlands 1A league, and in 8th place in the WWHL. After a difficult start, we are now going up in the rankings and winning more and more games. With the second half of the season and Varsity still ahead, we look forward to keeping the goals coming and getting even more wins in term 2!

This year we permanently added two freshers in the team. Chelsea has been an excellent addition to our midfield, dribbling around our oppon...

AND WE’RE BACK!

After a long summer, our girls are rested and ready for another busy busy season and academic year. With 3 weeks of preseason (#teamwarwickpreseason) for our 1s as a new performance squad, and 2 weeks of preseason for the rest of our teams, UWLHC players have been put through their paces to get us fit and prepared for the hockey ahead of us!

Having said farewell to a number of amazing players who graduated back in July, our teams have seen a reshuffle, and our 1s headed off to Amsterdam for the weekend to partake in a preseason tour. Whilst there, they both watched and played...

On the 23rd June, UWHC held their annual summer Hockey Charity Tournament.

The sun was shining and we had a massive turnout with over 20 teams from a variety of different sports clubs and societies including netball, swimming and even postgrad medics to name a few!

There were 3 prizes up for grabs on the day: the Cup Prize, the Plate Prize and the best dressed. The winners of the Cup Prize were Teletubbies. The Plate Prize was won by Mixed Hockey 2 and the best dressed team which won were Made in Porec in line with our TV shows theme!

Overall, we raised a phenomenal £305 for our chosen charit...

It has been an incredible year for UWLHC.

Whether it be the competitive hockey side, the social side or the charity side, every aspect of the club has thrived this year and it has been a true pleasure to observe the hard work of every member as they have contributed to our success.

It goes without saying that on the pitch we have performed exceptionally this year making this one of the most successful seasons across the club in recent history.

The 1st team dominated in their BUCS league (winning the Conference Cup!) but with 2 other promotions from our 2nd XI and 3rd XI in their WWHL divisio...

This has been an absolutely incredible term (and year) for the 1st XI, and all credit must go to the girls for working so hard to achieve it all.

With only two BUCs wins needed in term two to clinch the title, we had it comfortably secured in week 5 of term, with a thrilling 5-3 victory vs Leicester. The celebrations were one to remember, and I’m not sure we’ll ever get tired of chanting ‘we are Warwick 1s’.  Also, big hand to the girls for still stepping up for the remaining league games post-title win, beating Oxford and Harper Adams to complete a flawless 9/9 wins in Midlands 2A. Perfect...

Term 2 has been a great one for the 2nd team. Spoiler alert but we finished TOP OF THE LEAGUE in our Saturday WWHL division, with 47 points, and guaranteed ourselves promotion to Division 2.

We maintained our winning streak – only losing one match all year, which was aeons ago on the 30th September (before half of the fresh had even moved to uni). We had some emphatic scores, winning 7-0 against Birmingham Wasps and Solihull Blossomfield, 6-1 against Sutton Coldfield and 5-0 against Berkswell, who we had drawn 0-0 against when we first played them in November. As a team, we conceded the lea...

What an incredible season the 3s have had!!!

First and foremost, thanks to our unfailing work every Saturday, we are getting promoted in the Warwickshire Hockey League…!

Not only did we work consistently throughout term 2 to maintain our top of the league position, we also improved on a number of our results.

When we played Olton and West Warwick during preseason we lost 1-0 yet within the space of just a few months we had stepped up our game so much we won 7-1 (including 6 goals from Meg!).

With no thanks to the Beast from the East, we still have a couple of WWHL matches to play during the Ea...

The 4th team have had a much more successful term than last. We have gone from not managing to score a single goal to getting 5 brilliant goals this term and only losing our matches very narrowly, which is a great achievement for a team of relatively inexperienced players.

We started the season with Becky Lloyd and Jordan Holroyd joining the team who have become key players in our matches and are two of of our top goal scorers along with Maisy Spalding. These girls along with Eloise Byrne have become a really strong team of attackers and have meant we have so many more shots on goal than we...
