Despite coronavirus, UWLHC has still been very active throughout lockdown!!

Unfortunately our plans to do the Draycote Water 10K were ruined by corona, but we had a wee rethink and decided to do our own 10K fundraiser at home instead! On May 10th, over 40 of us ran 10K from home for NHS Charities Together. We raised a HUGE £2756 total, all going towards NHS staff and volunteers caring for coronavirus patients around the UK! Massive shoutout to everyone that took part and donated!!

We kept up the running throughout June with the club taking part in Warwick Athletics’ Run for Black Lives Matte...

My final term as charities officer for UWLHC before I hand over the reins has been amazing! We started off the new calendar year by celebrating our Freshers at the annual Talent Show. Unfortunately, most teams forgot what ‘talent’ meant, while others (*cough the 4s cough my own team cough*) forgot to show up. However, some shining stars brought us Tik Tok dances, sexy singalongs, soapy shirtless wrestling, and our winners even provided us with a throwback to the highlight of mine and all our childhoods by performing Troy and Gabriella’s High School Musical duet. It was also an amazing nigh...

We kicked the new year off, with the Charity Talent Show returning in 2019 at Altoria with all the freshers from UWLHC and UWMHC getting involved to show us their many talents. While the competition was tense, in the end the Men’s 4s came out on top with a hilarious dance routine! This night raised a phenomenal £126 for Alzheimer’s Research, one of our chosen charities of the year and showed that our freshers are certainly not only talented on the hockey pitch!

UWLHC also continued the February Family Challengewhich started for the first-time last year! We had 9 hockey families who di...

On the 23rd June, UWHC held their annual summer Hockey Charity Tournament.

The sun was shining and we had a massive turnout with over 20 teams from a variety of different sports clubs and societies including netball, swimming and even postgrad medics to name a few!

There were 3 prizes up for grabs on the day: the Cup Prize, the Plate Prize and the best dressed. The winners of the Cup Prize were Teletubbies. The Plate Prize was won by Mixed Hockey 2 and the best dressed team which won were Made in Porec in line with our TV shows theme!

Overall, we raised a phenomenal £305 for our chosen charit...

At the beginning of February we were treated to a fresher-led night of entertainment at Altoria as the charity Talent Show returned for 2018! UWLHC 2s came 1st with their wild take on the hakka, accompanied with some classic chat, musical renditions from Kanye to the Lion King, raps and Bill and Ben the flowerpot men went rogue… This night with the Men’s club raised £150 for Mind.

During Warwick’s RAG Week our outgoing (in both senses of the word) President Kingy got royally pied in the face in aid of Sense, Guide Dogs and Fairy Bricks. This was great fun for all involved especially as we h...

The year began with UWLHC choosing to represent two charities: Mind - who work for better mental health across the nation, and Coventry Cyrenians - a local shelter for the homeless.

Take a moment to check out their websites to find out about the great work they do.

During pre-season, the exec met one weekend with Warwick Volunteers in order to clean up the canal in Leamington Spa, pulling out all sorts of things from mopeds to loaves of bread! This was a great opportunity to get hands on with looking after our local environment.

This Thursday saw our ladies get stuck into some rugby at the WWRFC Charity Tournament in aid of the CRASAC - Coventry Rape and Sexual Assault Centre. Many of our girls had never played before but the weather was glorious and it was a fab event with lots of support.
