On the 23rd June, UWHC held their annual summer Hockey Charity Tournament.

The sun was shining and we had a massive turnout with over 20 teams from a variety of different sports clubs and societies including netball, swimming and even postgrad medics to name a few!

There were 3 prizes up for grabs on the day: the Cup Prize, the Plate Prize and the best dressed. The winners of the Cup Prize were Teletubbies. The Plate Prize was won by Mixed Hockey 2 and the best dressed team which won were Made in Porec in line with our TV shows theme!

Overall, we raised a phenomenal £305 for our chosen charit...

At the beginning of February we were treated to a fresher-led night of entertainment at Altoria as the charity Talent Show returned for 2018! UWLHC 2s came 1st with their wild take on the hakka, accompanied with some classic chat, musical renditions from Kanye to the Lion King, raps and Bill and Ben the flowerpot men went rogue… This night with the Men’s club raised £150 for Mind.

During Warwick’s RAG Week our outgoing (in both senses of the word) President Kingy got royally pied in the face in aid of Sense, Guide Dogs and Fairy Bricks. This was great fun for all involved especially as we h...

8-0: The biggest Varsity shoeing in UWLHC history?

On what must’ve been the coldest night in February, the whole of UWLHC came out in force to watch the 1XI shoe the poly in one of the biggest wins in our Varsity history.

Upon arrival to Westwood we followed the sound of the banging tunes to the home changing rooms where we were greeted by our very own MUA Charlotte LLoyd (follow her hair and beauty page on insta) who kitted us out with our war paint and we were ready to show everyone why we go to the real uni.

As we walked out onto the pitch ready to show the fans why we are not only Warwick...

Social hockey has had its biggest intake ever this year with over 30 girls turning up to our taster sessions at the beginning of term. Many of the girls had never played hockey before, but by the end of term they had grown in confidence and skill so much that they were able to fully partake in drills with the rest of the 4s, as well as the occasional training with the 3s, which is a fantastic achievement.

The 4th team compete in a friendly league and play 4 matches a term. Our first match against Stratford Ladies proved to be quite tough and we unfortunately lost 7-0. However, we were playi...

I have been extremely proud of what the 3s have achieved this term as a team, both on and off the pitch.

We were faced with a lot of changes from the very beginning: new coach, new pitch, and new division arrangement within the Warwickshire League. Yet this has not deterred us from being successful.

We started off by shoeing the poly and we didn’t think it could get any better.

How wrong we were.

Since then, we have risen to the top of the division in the Warwickshire league, with some spectacular results, including an 8-0 win against Sutton Coldfield and 5-0 against both Long Buckby and Ru...

The first half of the season has been an extremely promising one for the 2nd team, as we sit comfortably in promotion zone in our WWHL league and are mid-table for BUCS.

We have had an amazing fresher intake, with 8 fresh regularly playing for the 2s, leading to some very lengthy fresh factor performances. Our new waterbase astro has made training at 9pm on a Monday a much more exciting experience this season, and we have been lucky enough to participate in training matches against both the 1s and the 3s on the new surface.

Training also allowed to us to sort out our nightmare short corner...

The first team have had an absolutely incredible first half of the season, sitting at the top of midlands 2A in BUCS, 2nd in Div 1 of WWHL, and still in the race for the cup! We have scored 80 goals in the process - so that averages five goals per game - free scoring to say the least. The competition for golden stick looks incredibly tight this year, with Bevis leading the way on 17, then Bean (15), and Hollerbach (13). We look forward to keeping the goals coming in term 2.

Our season began with an excellent and high quality fresher intake. Eva and Becky have added quality at the back, Emma...

Our lovely 1st/2nd/3rd XI captains were back on the airwaves this afternoon on RAW Sport chatting about the new water-base astro, their aims for the season to come, how freshers can get involved in hockey and socials, on a 4 hour special of Sports Showcase, with Ed.

We also got to catch up with our very own Sports Officer Ellie Martin (who is still a 1st XI ladies' hockey player in UWLHC) who spoke about her brand new campaign #ReshapingSport.

Warwick Sports day will also be running on Saturday 14th, the perfect opportunity to try out any of the many sports we can...
