Term 1 Charity round-up

The year began with UWLHC choosing to represent two charities: Mind - who work for better mental health across the nation, and Coventry Cyrenians - a local shelter for the homeless.

Take a moment to check out their websites to find out about the great work they do.

During pre-season, the exec met one weekend with Warwick Volunteers in order to clean up the canal in Leamington Spa, pulling out all sorts of things from mopeds to loaves of bread! This was a great opportunity to get hands on with looking after our local environment.

UWLHC also turned out in huge numbers at the first 'Boob Ball' Warwick has ever seen, in aid of the charity CoppaFeel!. This was organised and run by the Warwick Uni Boob Team and raised £385.75 in total from donations in exchange for large amounts of pink face glitter and boob shaped biscuits and cakes!! Kasbah has never looked so pink and perky...

In week 9 we saw a group of fabulous ladies volunteer to represent Ladies Hockey in CMD's Lets Dance for Sports Relief, which raised over £3000 in total! They did an amazing job and took home the CMD Choice prize. Well done Vicky, Gayatri, Dani, Victoria, Izzie, Sky, Phoebe, Annabelle, Shaz and Kingy for your major commitment and enthusiasm!

Check out their SENSATIONAL performance below.......

We ended the term with a raffle during our Christmas meal, and a Charity Christmas quiz with UWMHC which raised £105 for Mind and was great for building bridges between the clubs.

In the run-up to Christmas, we also gathered donations of chocolates, toiletries and lots of mince pies for Coventry Cyrenians to share out on Christmas Day!

More info about their Christmas appeal can be found here http://www.coventrycyrenians.co.uk/Events and any donation however big or small will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

Sarah and the exec xx
